Week
1 / June 15 – 19
Sewing
for my American Girl Doll
9am
-12 pm
In this beginning class, you will learn how to operate a
sewing machine and begin to understand basic sewing techniques. Your doll will
love the summer skirt, shorts, Capri pants, top, and sundress made from fun
fabrics and just right for summer fun! The book including all the doll patterns
and patterns for you too is included in the camp fee.
P.S. Be sure to bring your American Girl Doll so she won’t
miss any of the fun.

During this week, learn about how to do a fusible appliqué
on a summer tote bag. Bring in a **favorite photo and learn about photo
transfer onto fabric while making a flanged pillow for your bed. Make a great
skirt from strips of fabric and add some lace for a pretty hem. Sew up a pair
of pajama bottoms and top it with a pretty sleeveless top.
** For this week sewers will need to bring a favorite
snapshot on the first day of camp.

for my American Girl Doll

Begin learning how to use a pattern as you make an
adorable nightgown and matching robe for your American Girl Doll. Learn how to
sew different fabrics as you sew some great sweatpants from fleece and a make a
pretty knit camisole for lounging or for exercising. You’re going to love
sewing for your American Girl or 18” doll!

2 / June 22 – June 26

Learn the basics of taking your measurements, choosing the
correct size pattern, and how to use a pattern from start to finish. We’ll
start the week sewing a pair of shorts or pajama bottoms and then move on to
sewing a cool summer dress!
P.S. Girl Scouts can earn
their Sew Simple Badge during this week!

3 / June 29 – July 3

During this week we’ll stitch a cool purse, sew some vinyl
luggage tags and whip up a colorful lunch bag to carry your lunches wherever
you go. **Learn gathering as we fashion a used pair of jeans into a new skirt. Quilt
your own fabric and use it to sew a pillow or an oven mitt for mom to use in
the kitchen. Make a pretty pincushion and learn how to make piping and covered
buttons…..wow, what a busy week!
**Sewers will need a used pair of jeans that still fit
through the waist and hips.

3 / June 29 – July 3

of Bags

If you love bags and love to embellish, then this week
will tickle your creative fancy! Using the book “101 Fabulous Fat –Quarter Bags”
by M’Liss Rae Hawley, we’ll be sewing up lots of super easy bags for every
season, occasion, or outfit. Lots of purse related techniques to master and a
whole lotta embellishment going on… Everyone will be asking for a designer
original designed by you! Fabulous!

4 / July 6 – 10

This week starts with a satchel with drawstring casings that
will carry all your items for the beach or clothes for an overnight stay with
friends. Then a creative session on free motion embroidery and raw edge
appliqué to spruce up an **old pair of jeans….A quick dabble in pattern making
with a tube top and a lesson in sewing with knits. We’ll sew a flirty skirt
with a lesson on zippers, putting in a hem, and adding your own personal
touches to commercial patterns. And, if time permits, we’ll play with elastic
thread and try our skills sewing a shirred (gathered) pillow.
**Campers will need
a pair of jeans to decorate for this camp. Jeans should fit in the waist and
hips. We can cut them and make shorts if they are not long enough!
Hint:
Try the Goodwill stores for “gently worn” jeans!

5 / July 13 –July 17
Sewing
for your American Girl Doll
9am
-12pm
In this session, learn to navigate the sewing machine and
learn basic sewing terms. We’ll be sewing a wardrobe of shorts, pants, jeans,
tops, and accessories for your favorite American Girl Doll. A great beginner
class! Patterns are simple and personalized by embellishments. Bring your dolls
and plan to have lots and lots of fun!

5 / July 13 – July 17

This week we’ll be starting with a great terry bag made
from a towel, move onto a flirty bangle bag for summer nights, and try some
fusible appliqué with a blocks appliqué pillow and a cute tucked pillow to
practice Mexican wedding tucks and decorative stitching. Later in the week our
focus will be on navigating a pattern and our focus fabric will be on knits.
Reverse appliquéd sweatshirt will also be a fun extra project for this week!
Week 6 / July 20 –July 24
Begin
to Quilt
9am
-12pm
Spend this week exploring the age old art of quilting by
sewing a number of small useable projects. We’ll start out with a strip pieced
placemat for your bedroom and then try a pieced pillow that’s sure to please!
An everyday tote bag will carry everything you need especially when we
personalize it to fir your style and your personal needs. A doll quilt for your
favorite American Girl Doll or a gift for someone special will teach you the
basics of quilt making from start to finish. And if there’s time, a crazy
quilted pillow is always fun stitching while teaching you embellishment from a
bygone era!
Bobbi Says: Bring some old clothes that are
special to cut up and sew into your quilted pieces!

6 / July 20 – July 24
American
Girl Doll

This week we’ll be busy sewing dresses for our special
doll. First on our agenda will be a pretty summer dress with shrug, perfect for
summer days and nights. Then, a party gown out of satin, tulle, laces, and
trims perfect for summer parties, ballroom dancing or that special ballet
performance. Simply magnificent!

7 / July 27 – August 31
Teddy
Bear Friends

-12 pm
A favorite class of Ms Bobbi and her students, this week
is full of fun and creative expression. Using a pattern, cut and sew your new
friend learning soft sculpture techniques to make your Teddy Bear come to life.
After your bear is made, spend the rest of the week making him (or her) an
adorable wardrobe embellishing your outfits and making them so special!

7 /July 27 – July 31

This week will be devoted to projects that help us have
“fun in the sun”! For starters, we’ll make a Yo Yo Pillowcase to add a splash
of summer color to your bed. A shirred sundress is fun to make and so easy that
you’ll want to make more than one! A tuxedo camisole is perfect to wear with a
favorite pair of jeans. The

8 / August 3 – August 7

Spend the week exploring the wonderful world of
embellishments. Have fun dyeing felt for a great pillow project and as a bonus
try your hand at the age old art of needle felting. Make a wrap skirt and “couch”
a cute flower on it for that special touch. Bring a hoodie sweat shirt and
transform it into your personalized creation with several pocket and drawstring
options. Make a shirred (gathered) belt by stretching elastic and adding a cool
buckle. And finally, learn about needles as you try some hand embroidery
stitches throughout the week and make a ladybug needle case to store them for
future projects!
Campers will need a
hoodie sweat shirt with pockets preferably for this camp.

8 / August 3 – August 7
Monkey
Business

Monkeys seem to be all the rage so let’s have some fun
making them! First we’ll make an adorable “sock monkey” that delighted kids
from the 40’s and 50’s and have resurfaced as an adorable companion for yet a
new generation. Then make a “Snuggler” monkey out of soft cuddly fleece to wrap
around your neck for long trips or watching TV. Then as time permits, stitch a
“Funky Monkey” for lots of fun and some creative embellishment and dress him in
shorts and a shirt for a cute and very funky and rather cool monkey!

9/ August 10 – August 14

So many embellishment techniques and so little time
(sigh)…. Another week chock full of new techniques for you to try! Sew an apron
from oil cloth to teach you how to sew on slick fabrics and help you master
bias binding and sewing pockets. Decorate a favorite t shirt with raw edge
appliqué. Bring a favorite pair of jeans to try fabric painting and add some
beaded trim for color and interest. Fashion a cute flower pot pincushion to
store pins and other sewing accessories. Monogram a pillowcase using decorative
stitches on the sewing machine. And, practice sewing on heavier fabrics and
putting in grommets while making a canvas tote for summer days at the beach.
Campers will need at
least 1 teach shirt and 1 pair of jeans, shorts, or Capris for this camp
Week 9 / August 10 – August 14

Free Fashion and Accessories

-4pm
This is a great class for all sewing levels! Spend the
week making fashions and accessories with easy to sew projects that require
simple shapes and no commercial patterns! Learn basic hand sewing,
embellishment, and sewing machine skills. From small change purses to pillows,
from bags to sassy skirts, these projects are colorful and fun!

10 / August 17 – August 21
Sewing
for American Girl
9am-12pm
This
week, start to sew a fall wardrobe for your American Girl doll. Learn to sew
with fleece as you make a great winter coat for your favorite doll. Then, as
time permits, make a mix and match wardrobe of pants, leggings, shirts, jumpers
and sweaters from different types of knit fabrics. Your doll will be so ready
for fall after this week!

10 / August 17 – August 21

This
week we’ll start with a great bag that’s reversible for two looks in one! From bag
making we’ll move on to making a pair of Capri pants, putting in a zipper and
adding interest with an added bottom band. Then we’ll sew a cute smock top that
can be worn alone or over a tee shirt. Finish the week as time permits with
embellishment lessons on foiling, making yo yo’s, thread painting and quilting
techniques.
Week 11 / August 24 – August 28

Bags
are popular and our stylish zippered bag for this week is no exception! Next
we’ll practice sewing on nylon and putting in grommets as we sew a sturdy gym
bag that can double as a backpack. Decorate a tee shirt in your wardrobe with
cute as a button heart appliquéd flowers. Make a patchwork envelope pillow to
learn new quilting and pillow making skills. Try your hand learning to sew with
faux suede and put in a zipper while making a travel jewelry roll. And if time
permits, learn how to make piping and make a cool multi layered belt.
Campers will need a tee shirt to
embellish for this session!

11 / August 24 – August 28
Sewing
for American Girl

– 4pm
Make
some totally cool clothes this week that you also can make for yourself from
patterns in your size too! A tiered skirt and peasant top looks great for any
occasion. Embellish a pair of jeans, sew a knit top, and sew a fringed poncho
from fleece. Add several stylish purses and some fall boots and the week is
full of sewing for that favorite doll of yours!
Week 12 / August 31 – September 4

Sew
with fleece and make a cute stuffed owl. Play with fabric and embellishments
while making fabric greeting cards. Make a cute button bouquet purse, fashion
some designer bangle bracelets with ribbon and other embellishments, and make a
posy pincushion. Recycle old jeans into a skirt and add a ruffled, pleated, or
gathered flounce to the bottom. Use a tee shirt to create a cardigan. A week
full of sewing and embellishment fun!
Campers will need a pair of old jeans
that fit in the waist and hips!
Week 12 / August 31 – September 4

Learn
the basics of taking your measurements, choosing the correct size pattern, and
how to use a pattern from start to finish. Our focus this week will be sewing
with flannels and fleece. Making fleece or flannel pajamas and a cozy fleece
robe will be our main projects. You’ll be warm and cozy during those cool fall
nights after this session to be sure!
