Hello, my name is Bobbi Smith and I want to welcome you to Fascination in Fabrics!  I have a shop in Boothwyn, PA and I am open mostly by appointment only because of my teaching commitments throughout the year.  I carry a nice selection of fine heirloom fabrics, laces, threads, patterns, books, and notions in the shop.  My online store does not have all that I offer in my shop, so please call me (610-494-7742) if you don't see what you are looking for to make your heirloom projects.  Even if I don't have what you're looking for, I'll be happy to help you find it and special order it for you.

Sewing is a life skill that has sadly not been taught in most schools for a very long time.  It is my goal to reach out to kids, teens, and adults of all ages and teach them that sewing is fun and a great leisure pastime.  It saves money and it helps in the campaign for us to save our planet by going green and recycling.  Looking through Goodwill stores, thrift stores, and our own closets, we can design a new wardrobe from gently worn clothing.  Altering your clothes can make them look better and repairing them can extend their life.  Learning to sew clothes for your kids can save money and spark creativity.  Passing the knowledge of how to sew to your kids and grandkids is priceless!

I teach all age levels, but for the past 5 years, I have mostly been teaching kids from 4 to 18 the joys of learning to sew.  With 12 machines and tons of sewing "stuff" (irons, ironing boards, scissors, etc...), I travel and teach in Art Centers and Extended Day programs in private schools.  My traveling school also works with the Girl Scouts in PA, DE, MD, NJ, and VA to help troops earn badges and try-its in many of the sewing disciplines.  I also work with my classes and the GS in community services projects to help the kids learn to sew by giving back to kids and adults in their communities.  I also work with college age girls studying fashion design and needing sewing skills to better understand their coursework.

Children and adult classes can be arranged by calling me.  Private, semi-private, and group classes are options as is the course content and time of the classes.  My sewing school can come to you or you are always welcome to come to my home classroom for classes if that better suits your needs.

I carry a wide variety of children's fabrics and classic style children's patterns.  I teach most of my classes with kits and many of them will begin to be listed on the site (complete with pattern and all fabrics, notions, an trims for the project).  These kits are great for the beginner sewer!

My kids summer sewing camps continue to be popular and run from June 15 through September 4.  Registration can be made by phone at 610-494-7742 or online.  For your convenience, I take Master Card, Visa, and American Express.  Classes are small, so register early for best selection of times and dates.  No 2 camps are the same and new techniques will be taught each week.  Lots of fun and great projects too!
