What Students Learn
The curriculum is built around each student's age and goals. Over a semester, homeschool students typically progress through:
Hand Sewing Foundations
Running stitch, whip stitch, backstitch, and basic finishing. Essential technique that carries through every project at every level.
Sewing Machine Skills
Threading, bobbin setup, tension, stitch selection, and straight and curved seam control. Students build real machine confidence in a supervised, unhurried setting.
Pattern Reading
Understanding pattern markings, cutting layouts, grain lines, and seam allowances — a practical skill that connects directly to reading comprehension and following multi-step instructions.
Project Completion
Every semester includes at least one completed take-home project — a tangible result that builds pride, confidence, and motivation to keep going.
Math in Action
Measuring fabric, calculating seam allowances, scaling patterns — sewing is applied math in the most natural and satisfying form. Many homeschool parents count sewing toward their math enrichment hours.
Life Skills
Hemming, mending, replacing a button, basic repairs — students leave with practical skills they will use for the rest of their lives, regardless of how far they take their sewing.

Frequently Asked Questions
What ages do homeschool classes serve?
Ms. Bobbi works with homeschool students from age 5 through high school. Younger students (ages 5–7) typically start with hand sewing and shorter sessions. Older students can move into garment construction, pattern work, and more advanced projects. Every student starts where they are.
Can we schedule classes around our school week?
Absolutely — flexible scheduling is one of the biggest advantages of homeschool classes with Ms. Bobbi. Morning, afternoon, and weekday availability can all be discussed. Call (610) 368-8392 to find a time that fits your family's routine.
Can siblings take class together?
Yes! Siblings learning together is one of the most common and enjoyable formats Ms. Bobbi teaches. Small group classes for two to four students are available, and sibling pairs often make faster progress because they motivate each other. Pricing for small groups is discussed individually — call to talk through the details.
Do students need to bring their own supplies or machine?
No supplies or machine are needed. Everything is provided at the studio. If a student has their own machine at home and wants to practice between classes, Ms. Bobbi is happy to give guidance tailored to that specific machine during lessons.
Can sewing classes count toward our curriculum requirements?
Many homeschool families count sewing classes toward fine arts, home economics, or practical life skills — and the math concepts involved (measuring, fractions, geometry) make a strong case for math enrichment credit as well. Ms. Bobbi is happy to provide a written description of class content and skills covered if needed for your records.
Can Ms. Bobbi come to our home or co-op location?
In-home lessons are available throughout southern Delaware County for individual students. For co-op group classes, reach out to discuss logistics — Ms. Bobbi has experience working with co-op groups and is open to the conversation. Call (610) 368-8392 to talk through your situation.
